You are invited to attend the Ride the Bayhorse ATV Event on August 17-19, 2012. See memo from Vicky Weiner below.
Melissa Perkins Fitzgerald
Executive Director Challis Area Chamber of Commerce
ATV’ers, we know it’s that time of the year for setting calendars of events, therefore we are sending you out a preliminary letter giving you the dates for our Ride The Bayhorse ATV event here in Challis, Idaho. The Ride The Bayhorse ATV event will be held the 3rd weekend in August. That will be August 17, 18 and 19.
August 17 will be a day of arrival, get situated, and find your homes for the next two days. Also we are trying to get with the state to do certifications for 16 and under again this year. As you know it’s mandatory for children 16 and under to have a certification to ride ATV’s or Motorcycles off road. Last year we had two days of certification and hopefully we will be able to offer that again this year, it is free to the public and we are glad to be able to offer this in conjunction with our ride.
August 18 will be our official Ride The Bayhorse trail ride. We will all meet at the Land of the Yankee Fork Interpretive Center prior to the ride, there will be some announcements and then off we go. There will be lunch at the ghost town of Bayhorse and then from there we will pick and choose how we travel back to Challis. We will have several different groups breaking off and taking you in other directions for the ride home, or you can go off on your own and check out the area and make your way back on your own (DO NOT GET LOST). Later that night we will have a BBQ at the Y-Inn Café, we’ll have a dancing a fun relaxing evening. Last year we sold tickets for an ATV, we hopefully will be doing that again this year and more information will follow about that.
August 19 is a free ride day, take off and ride wherever you would like. We will have several different directions in which some of us will be going if you want to trail along, or just take off on your own and look around…we have TONS of amazing trails and lots of different directions in which to travel all leaving directly from town if you don’t want to trailer out, or load up and trailer out to Willow Creek Summit or across to the Challis foothills.
We will send more information out on the various areas for rides. Also, last year we did another certification for 16 and under on Sunday, I’m not sure this year if it will be a two day certification or not. That is the run down on our ride, we will send more information to you as we get closer and as we get ourselves organized and ready for the season of riding.
Please if you plan on attending our ride, RSVP to either the firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com . Thank you so much and we wish you a great upcoming season of ATV’ing … it’s so good to get out there and ride the trails.
Sincerely, on behalf of the Committee for the Ride The Bayhorse ATV Event, Vicky Weiner
