Ride the Bayhorse Thank You!

Dear all,

Bayhorse, near Challis, is an old mining town that was converted to a park and ATV trailhead.

We at the Land of the Yankee Fork State Park, Challis Area Chamber of Commerce, and Friends of the Land of the Yankee Fork wanted to send out a large “Thank You” to express our gratitude and appreciation to everyone involved in this year’s “Ride the Bayhorse” weekend of events.  Whether you took part in setting up the activities, donated resources, or simply were in attendance at one of the events, each of you contributed in your own way to its success, and without you this event would not have been possible.

Throughout the weekend, participants were able to enjoy music performed by Hat Trick, attend an Ice Cream Social and a dinner provided by the Y-Inn, and enjoy a lunch provided by the Village Inn.  Riders were led over the Lombard Trail by Ernie Lombard himself, and local BLM employee Ace Hess was even able to win an ATV!  In total, over $4,700 dollars were raised in support of the Friends of the Land of the Yankee Fork, which will go a long way in support of events and activities such as these.

It was amazing to see everyone’s continued support again this year, despite the looming smoke from local wild fires.  It was also great to see the cooperative efforts of the USFS, BLM, IDPR, Custer Economic Development Association, and countless numbers of individuals as well.

Thank you again for all of your time and efforts in making the 2012 “Ride the Bayhorse” event a true success! Please feel free to stop by or contact us here at the Interpretive Center with any questions or comments you may have.  We value and appreciate your input and look forward to seeing all of you (and your friends) next year.

Sincerely,

Darrel E. Hopkins
