NOTES: This is a great ride super close to Boise, but it is for expert riders only. Very narrow trails (50″), switch backs right from the unload area called “the spiral stair case” and it is not for riders afraid of heights and long drops. Just check out the pics from the ride center…incredible area to ride.
NOTES: Steep and super rocky, but the view from the top is spectacular. The last mile or so up to the top is called “Satan’s Mistress” if that tells you anything. There is another section on this route that comes from the campground and travels above a creek… this section is hair raising as it’s a long way down and you’d likely not survive it if you come off the trail which is THIN. Nothing except 50″ machines (and we would recommend not even 50″ side by sides).
NOTES: The section starting about a mile or so from Thompson Lakes is trenched deeply and you need very good skills not to slip into one which would put your machine on its side or worse. This section is called “Randy’s revenge” as his side by side did slide into the trench. The lakes are gorgeous. Need to do this in July or later due to snow. The rough section starts around 42.98912 -116.64590. There are some tough spots even coming out of Thompson Lakes going on down the the mountain.
NOTES: see the notes for Owyhee Loop / Silver city / Thompson Lakes. Expert only unless with a group and using a spotter. You can do some Flint tracks that go around the silver city area, but just don’t go into Flint as that area is closed. Lots of riding to do in this area and very scenic. This track does go to Thompson lakes which is the trouble spot and why this track is considered difficult.
NOTES: This takes you from the unload area on into Silver City, but then you still need to get back which is another 20 miles or so. If you go through Silver City you’ll see the road going to the right that is the main road and will take you straight back to the unload area. The main road is at 43.02588 -116.73297.
