Pioneer Fire Aug 30 2016Pioneer Fire has caused ride/camp-out cancellations!

Many of our favorite Southwest ATV/UTV scheduled rides and camp-outs have been CANCELLED due to the Pioneer Fire.  This is sad to see because members love riding in these areas during the summer months.  Latest ride cancelled is Deadwood.  Members be sure to view the scheduled rides on the website before leaving.  This time of year, rides can be cancelled at a moments notice.  If you have any questions about the status of a ride, be sure to contact the ride leader.

What riding areas have been affected?

  • Fire has burned up the road to Graham, Jackson Peak, Pilot Peak, and west to Grimes Creek Pass south of Lowman.
  • Currently, fire in Long Gulch area and north side of Miller Mountain, Lowman (the area we clean every year near Kirkham Trails).

Pioneer Fire NIFC Update:

2016_08_25-10.51.59.006-CDT (2)The fire continues advancing to the north and northeast, growing to 16,613 acres today (August 31). To date 156,000 acres (approx 246 square miles) has been burned.

The northern flank of the fire is in the Scott Creek and north of the Whitehawk Mountain area. The fire has reached old fire scars to the northeast near the Red Mountain area, and it is expected to slow. Fire activity continued to burn late into the evening due to low relative humidity. Firefighters in the Deadwood and Bear Valley area are looking for opportunities to construct containment lines and limit additional growth. Crews in the Archie Mountain area made good progress yesterday and continue to work on hot spots near the containment line. The Charlotte Gulch area is also being worked on by crews, who are making good progress.

MAP COLOR CODE:
