Danskin Trail Project

It is my desire to re-open the Danskin trails, but my decision will depend on how well the vegetation and soils in this area are recovering and whether or not it is safe to allow motorized use this season.  We spent a lot of time and money repairing the trail system last summer and still have one bridge to replace.  Unfortunately we battled mother nature in the form of mudslides and flooding last summer and a significant storm in the fall created more problems that still have to be repaired.  These repairs will not occur until the spring and early summer.

As I am sure you are aware, the Danskin Mountains cover more than one jurisdiction and my decision is only for the portion that is on the National Forest.  You may contact the Bureau of Land Management Four Rivers Field Office for information on the BLM land and the Idaho Department of Lands for information regarding the State land in the area.

Thank you for your message.
